Community Art Project

Make Your Mark

06 May 2025
Community Art Project

We’re bringing the community together, one brushstroke at a time.

The Community Art Project at Burwood Brickworks is a colourful, collaborative mural created by local schools and community groups, guided by Melbourne artist Angharad Neal-Williams. Spanning five panels and painted live in-centre, this permanent artwork celebrates the people who make our community so special.

Each group will contribute their own section of the mural, inspired by the unique experiences, stories, and connections they share with Brickworks. You’ll find their stories on the back of each panel, a tribute to the individuals and organisations who bring heart and meaning to this space.

This project is more than art…it’s a symbol of unity, creativity, and belonging. The mural will be moved to its permanent home at the entrance to the rooftop garden for all to enjoy!

Want to Get Involved?

We’re inviting local community groups, schools, clubs, and organisations to take part in this special project. If your group would like to paint a section of the mural and help bring this shared vision to life, we’d love to hear from you! Please register your interest at marketing@burwoodbrickworks.shopping by Friday 23 May.

Attention All Schools!

We understand that coordinating an excursion takes time and planning, so we’re making it extra worthwhile. As a special bonus for schools participating in the mural, we’re offering an additional Plant Power Workshop in our rooftop garden.

Led by Cultivating Community, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to food security and sustainability, this hands-on session will teach students how to grow and prepare food, minimise waste, and embrace sustainable living practices.

Held at our award-winning rooftop garden, this interactive workshop connects kids with nature and equips them with practical knowledge around urban agriculture and environmentally responsible choices.

Together, the Community Art Project and Plant Power Workshop will run for approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes.

Places are limited, so if your school is interested in participating, please register by emailing marketing@burwoodbrickworks.shopping early to secure your spot. We’ll be in touch to discuss the details.

This is your place. This is your mural.

Join us in celebrating the incredible spirit of Burwood Brickworks.
